FAQ's
What types of beads do you use? TOP I like working with gemstones, freshwater pearls, artisan lampwork glass beads, and Swarovski crystals. Each of these has their own special characteristics. Swarovski crystals have such fire and sparkle and I like to use them with pearls and glass. I also like to incorporate pearls into my gemstone pieces, and especially love coin pearls, stick pearls and am experimenting with keishi pearls. Artisan beads can be so inspiring for unique, one of a kind pieces. And gemstones just push my creativity to experiment with color. Do you work only in silver? TOP Mostly, I use sterling silver but when gold is called for, I use 14KT gold-filled, which makes the piece much more affordable than full 4KT gold. My vintage designs use antiqued silver or gold pewter links but the rest is sterling of gold-filled. Can you change the length of the piece? TOP Absolutely. I generally make a necklace 18”. It is very easy to both shorten and lengthen pieces with chain. To lengthen, I will add a few beaded links on either side of the clasp. As for my other styles, it will depend on the style. Just ask.
Bracelets are trickier and generally require restringing unless it is made with a chain. Again, just ask. Do you have a standard length necklace? What about other sizes? TOP Can you change earrings to clips? TOP Yes again. In most cases, it is an easy transfer. I use ear wires but can also change to one that closes in the back or even a post style. Again, simply ask. I like one of your necklaces but want a different color. Is that possible? TOP It depends. Any Swarovski crystal piece can come in another color. Swarovski makes over 150 different colors of crystals. Pearls are more limited but I will search for a color you want from my suppliers. Gemstones are trickier, but I will be happy to consult with you on what you’d like and let you know. There is some possibility with pieces with Lampwork beads too. I have a Lampwork bead that I love and would like it made up in a necklace or bracelet. Is that possible? TOP I would love to use your special bead and fashion it into a custom piece for you. Look through my catalog and see a style you like, let me know length, and so on. If you scan you bead and send it to me, I can also make some suggestions. When I have the piece constructed, I will scan it and send a picture to you for your approval. Then, I finish it off for your purchase. How do you charge for a custom design? TOP Once we agree on a concept or style and color, I will send you an order form via e-mail with the description and an estimated cost. A deposit of 75% of the estimated cost is required prior to beginning your jewelry. As the piece nears completion, I will scan it and send the scan to you for approval. I will also include the final cost of the piece. At that point, the remaining balance is due. When I receive payment, I will then finish the jewelry and mail it to you. Do you charge for shipping? TOP Yes. I send my jewelry out through the U.S. Post Office regular first class mail. I recommend insurance for more expensive pieces. Each item is securely packed and comes in a yellow box enclosed in a bubble envelope. I will send it Priority mail if you are in a hurry. Will you take a personal check? TOP I will, but you will need to wait ten days after I deposit the check into the bank for it to clear. If you use a bank/cashier’s check, I can send your jewelry to you once I receive the payment.
I have also set up an electronic check payment for your convenience. You'll see it when you opt to pay by check. What forms of payment do you take? TOP I use Paypal and take all credit cards through Propay, a secure online credit card system. Through these, I accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. I will also accept personal and cashier’s checks or money orders. Do you take international orders? TOP What if i don't like the piece when I see it? Can I return it? TOP Yes. I do want my customers to be happy with their purchase. Please call me or email me first for instructions. You pay the return shipping and send it insured. You have three days after the package is received to notify me that you want to return it.
The exception is custom orders. All custom orders are final sales.
