Learn More About April
The need to create is as much as part of me as the color of my eyes. Over the years, I have worked with many media including textiles, oils, paper, flowers, and thread. Then, I discovered artisan beads and the passion to create enveloped me. My style, as it has evolved, takes inspiration from vintage fashion, color from that old-fashioned crayon box of colors, and keeps femininity front and center. None of my pieces are huge – I love working with smaller beads making my jewelry immensely wearable and comfortable.
I love color and it shows in my work. My color experimentation really comes alive in my gemstone work. Here, the colors of nature inspire me like a brisk clear autumn day in New England or a glorious sunset in the Caribbean or the soft colors of an emerging spring garden. Briolettes and other shapes are individually attached to sterling silver or 14kt gold filled chain which I finish off myself.
I love the challenge of finding combinations of colors to match someone's outfit. One bride asked me to make a necklace and earring set for her mom and brought me the jacket to the mom's dress. I had the perfect beads and the result was magnificent! Other customers outside of Connecticut (my home), send me scans of the fabric and I've been successful in creating their jewelry too. I am thrilled when I can help someone look beautiful.
I seek out talented bead artists nationwide. I look for extraordinary beads be it color or shape or uniqueness that are also affordable so that my jewelry can remain reasonably priced. My two favorite bead artists are Carolyn Conley and Mariya Anton. Check them out on my favorite pages.
I have been selling my jewelry on line since 2003. My customers are worldwide, including Europe, Canada, Egypt, the Middle East, Australia, and throughout the United States. I accept commissioned work for custom pieces with a specialty in wedding and special occasion jewelry.
I am a Self-Representing Artist Jewelry Designer member 400, a collective of jewerly artists who sell their work in various venues, including the web. My designs have been published in Bead Trends Magazine and Bead Unique Magazine.
